
SUMMARY
Rob Dixon is an associate attorney at the Davis Brown Law Firm. He joined the Business Division in May 2010 after practicing for more than eight years with the Vedder Price Law Firm in Chicago. Rob maintains a general practice in, but not limited to, corporate and securities law.
In his practice, Rob has represented a wide variety of clients. Since joining Davis Brown, his practice has focused primarily on corporate and securities transactional and compliance issues, including corporate mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings and corporate governance matters. Rob also counsels investment advisers on compliance issues, serves as counsel to a State of Iowa local government investment pool and advises financial institutions and their holding companies on transactional, regulatory and governance matters.
In addition, Rob has extensive experience in the investment management industry. He has served as counsel to the independent directors of registered investment companies, acted as issuer’s counsel in registered fund offerings and counseled registered investment advisers. Rob also served as claims counsel to an insurer in the investment management industry.
SPEAKING, PUBLICATIONS AND SEMINARS
Rob is an active speaker and has recently presented speeches on the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act to the Association of Corporate Counsel, the Society of Financial Service Professionals and the Iowa Association of Realtors.
Rob has also written on various securities-related topics, including the regulation of broker-dealers and investment advisers and certain aspects of the recently-enacted JOBS Act.
ACADEMICS
Rob graduated with honors from Drake University Law School in 2001, where he served as an associate editor of the Drake Law Review. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from the University of Iowa in 1997.
OF NOTE
Rob serves on the boards of directors of a bank holding company and a community bank located in Iowa. He passed the Certified Public Accountant exam in 1998 and began his career as an auditor at McGladrey & Pullen’s Davenport, Iowa office.
COMMUNITY
Since moving to Des Moines, Rob has served as a guest lecturer at the AIB College of Business and as a volunteer instructor for Junior Achievement. Rob also serves on the capital campaign committee for the Des Moines Community Playhouse.
While in Chicago, Rob served on Drake University’s Chicago Alumni Board. He also regularly provided pro bono legal services to The Chicago Community Loan Fund in connection with low-income housing development loans.
